If Tanah Lot feels too packed at sunset, simply shift a little north. Pantai Nyanyi sits in Beraban village, Kediri district, Tabanan regency — a wide beach of golden-black sand that still rarely makes tourist must-do lists. The mood is calm: seaweed farmers, local kids playing football, and rows of coconut palms framing the shore. It is one of the most accessible hidden gems in southwest Bali.
Access & Travel Time
- From Tanah Lot: about 15 minutes by road (roughly 6 km) via the Beraban village lanes.
- From Canggu: about 45 minutes, following the coast through Cemagi and Pererenan.
- From Seminyak: about 60 minutes depending on afternoon traffic.
- The final access road is narrow and potholed in places — a scooter is more comfortable, though a small car still gets through.
- Parking is run by locals, around IDR 2,000–5,000 for a scooter and IDR 5,000–10,000 for a car.
Sunset, Waves & Safety
The best time to arrive is 4:00–6:30 pm, when the light softens and the dark sand glows golden. Early morning (6:00–8:00 am) is equally lovely and almost empty. One caution: Pantai Nyanyi faces the open Indian Ocean, so big swell and strong rip currents are common. Swimming is not recommended, especially with no lifeguard on duty. Stick to paddling at the edge, walking the shoreline, or simply sitting in the breeze.
Around the Beach
- A few simple warung sell young coconut, instant noodles, nasi campur, and coffee — around IDR 10,000–35,000 per serving.
- There is a small temple on the cliff edge near the beach; respect the sacred area, do not climb onto the shrines, and dress modestly if a ceremony is under way.
- Toilets and rinse facilities are limited — bring drinking water, tissues, and your own trash bag.
- Mobile signal is decent, but there is no ATM near the beach. Bring cash.
