Tucked away in Ambengan village, Sukasada District, Jembong Waterfall is one of Buleleng's hidden gems that few tourists have discovered. Instead of plunging vertically, the water slides down a wide, moss-covered rock wall at about a 75-degree angle—like a giant natural slide—before collecting in a shallow pool roughly a meter deep. The atmosphere is cool, green, and perfect for escaping the crowds of southern Bali.
The Appeal
What makes Jembong special is its gentle, wide flow rather than a thundering cascade. The shallow pool is relatively safe for a dip or a splash, making it family-friendly. The mossy rock face and lush surrounding trees make it feel like a hidden oasis.
- Height: the first tier is about 15 meters with a gentle slope
- Pool: shallow (about 1 meter), great for a relaxed soak
- Vibe: calm, cool, rarely crowded
A Short Trek Through Plantations
From the parking area, it is only a 10–15 minute walk along a path winding through villagers' clove, cacao, and coffee plantations. The trail is fairly easy but can be slippery when wet, so wear shoes with good grip. The scent of spices and the sound of running water accompany you the whole way.
Visiting Tips
- Come in the morning for clear water and the best light
- Bring drinking water, a change of clothes, and non-slip sandals
- Avoid heavy rain, when the rocks get slippery
- Carry small cash for the ticket and parking
