Hidden among the green rice fields of Bedulu Village, Gianyar, Yeh Pulu is one of Bali's most calming archaeological sites. This roughly 25-metre stone relief is carved directly into a cliff wall and is believed to date from the 14th to 15th century. Unlike the crowded spots around Ubud, this place offers silence and an authentic sense of history, just minutes from Goa Gajah.
Tracing a Centuries-Old Relief
The Yeh Pulu relief panel depicts scenes from the daily life of ancient Balinese people — hunting, horseback riding, and figures believed to relate to local legends. Because it is carved lengthwise, you can walk along it and read each scene like opening a storybook made of stone. At the far end of the site there is a spring and a small Ganesha statue still used for the community's spiritual activities.
