Melting Wok Warung, long a legend on Jl. Goutama, no longer operates at its old address. The good news is that the formula everyone was chasing — a tiny kitchen, serious flavour, warung prices — still lives on the same lane at Warung Siam, Jl. Goutama No. 7. This little Thai warung is run by a Thai–Balinese couple, cooks everything from scratch, and delivers honest sour-and-spicy flavour every time.
Dishes You Should Order
- Gaeng Keow Wan, the green curry: creamy, fragrant, and the main reason people come back.
- Tom Yum Goong and Tom Kha Kai, two standout soups loaded with prawns or chicken.
- Pad Thai and Pad Kra Pao for anyone who prefers milder heat.
- Khao Pad Tom Yam, seafood fried rice with a tom yum kick.
- Som Tam Thai and fish cakes to start, a mango smoothie to finish.
Most dishes sit around Rp 45–90k, so dinner for two with drinks usually stays under Rp 200k.
Best Time to Go & Queue Tricks
- Open daily roughly 12.00–20.30; hours can change, so check Google Maps first.
- Quietest between 14.00 and 17.00; queues typically start around 18.30.
- There are only a dozen or so tables, so arrive early or be ready to wait outside.
- There is no formal reservation system — most guests simply walk in.
Access, Parking and Halal Note
Jl. Goutama is a narrow lane linking Jl. Raya Ubud and Jl. Dewi Sita, about a 3–5 minute walk from Puri Saren Agung (Ubud Palace) and Ubud Market. The lane is tight, so walking or hopping off a scooter taxi at the corner is easiest; car parking is effectively unavailable. The menu includes pork dishes and beer, so it is not a halal-certified venue — ask the staff if you have specific dietary restrictions.
