Puri Wirata Amed: Who This Dive Resort Suits, and Who It Doesn't

A Deluxe room at Puri Wirata Dive Resort in Bunutan, Amed, costs Rp1,000,000 a night for two with breakfast in the 2026 normal season, 10% tax included, according to the rates on its official site (checked October 2026). On Kayak, a search for 24-25 October showed US$62-102 a night, with a review score of 8.9 from about 1,430 reviews.

A good fit if you are coming to dive

This family resort has its own dive centre, Bali Reef Divers, rated PADI 5 Star. The 2026 rates on its site: two dives a day Rp1,250,000, three dives Rp1,700,000, a 10-dive package Rp5,500,000, with gear and tax included. They cover every site around Amed and Tulamben, including the USS Liberty wreck, which the resort says is under half an hour away. For easy snorkelling, Lipah Beach is about 0.5 miles away, and the Japanese Shipwreck is on the same stretch of coast.

Also a good fit for families and small groups

• All 31 rooms face the sea, the resort says. Book early for an Ocean Front room (Rp100,000 extra).
• Full three-bedroom villa for up to six people: Rp3,800,000 (normal season) or Rp4,300,000 (high season), with a kitchen in the Master Suite.
• Deluxe rooms with connecting doors (six of them) work as family rooms. Extra bed Rp250,000 with breakfast.
• Master Suite with a living room and full kitchen: Rp1,600,000-1,800,000.

There are two pools and a spa with a 60-minute massage for Rp200,000 nett. If you want to cut the room cost, check whether AccessiaPass has a stay voucher for the Amed area before booking direct.

Who it doesn't suit

• Anyone who struggles with slopes or stairs. Rooms are spread down a hillside between the hills and the sea. Kayak reviews repeatedly mention a steep driveway and many steps.
• Travellers wanting a new, polished luxury hotel. The resort calls itself family-run, not five-star. Its newest villas were finished in 2008.
• One-night stays. It is about 100 km from the airport, roughly a 2.5-hour drive. The resort's airport pickup costs Rp750,000 (Rp850,000 for arrivals after 8pm).
• Bargain hunters in October. Kayak lists October as the most expensive month, about 26% above average, and June as the cheapest.

One tip: if you are coming from southern Bali, plan your first dive for day two. A 2.5-hour drive plus a 1pm check-in makes a first-afternoon dive feel rushed.
