Lawar Sapi Odah Jaran, Denpasar: Price, Sell-Out Time, Location

A plate of beef lawar rice at Warung Odah Jaran, Jalan Tukad Nyali No. 15, Sanur Kaja, starts at Rp15,000 according to detikBali (June 2026). The stall opens at 10:00 and usually sells out within 2-4 hours, so get there before 11:30.

What's on the plate

One portion has rice, lawar tum sapi (minced beef lawar), serapah (pieces of meat and offal), crisp fried lung and intestine, beef crackers, sambal lembar, and jukut ares balung sapi, a beef-bone soup with banana stem. There are two kinds of lawar: white and red. The red one is mixed with boiled cow's blood. detikBali's August 2024 visit found black pepper dominant and the beef flavour faint.

From Sanur Beach to Tukad Nyali

Odah Jaran started selling beef lawar in the 1970s on Sanur Beach, moved to the Bali Beach area, and since 2019 has been on Jalan Tukad Nyali. She is now around 90 and no longer cooks. Her daughter, niece and relatives cook at the family home on Jalan WR Supratman and bring the food to the stall. As of 2024 it sold about 50 portions a day.

Good to know

• Hours: it can't open earlier because the rice and lawar are prepared first. The 2024 report listed 10:00-13:00, and that day the food was gone before 13:00.
• Price: Rp25,000 for lawar plus iced tea in August 2024; detikBali's June 2026 list says from Rp15,000. Bring cash.
• Halal? detikBali put it on a list for Muslim travellers because it uses beef, but mentions no halal certificate, and the red lawar contains blood. If this matters to you, ask directly and choose the white one.
• Setting: a stall in a food court next to Lapangan Letda Made Pica, not a restaurant. Seating is basic and sources mention no dedicated parking; a scooter is easier than a car.
• Delivery: no official GoFood or GrabFood listing could be confirmed. Go in person; some regulars ask for takeaway.

To compare with another Denpasar lawar, Lawar Kuwir Pan Sinar in Kesiman uses Muscovy duck, and Nasi Bali Men Weti in Sanur also sells out before noon. Arrive at 10:15, when the lawar has just come in and no queue has formed yet.
