Dapur Bali Mula in Les village, Tejakula, has no menu and no price list. You pay what you like after the meal. As a benchmark, a jalanmelali review (September 2024) mentions a minimum of Rp100,000 per person, while the lokasibali directory lists Rp50,000-150,000. Budget around Rp100,000-150,000 per person so the moment of paying is not awkward.
What is served?
The meal depends on what Les fishermen bring in that day, cooked by Jro Gede Yudiawan (Chef Yudi), who opened this kitchen in 2019. Dishes that keep showing up in coverage: marlin skewers, tuna sate lilit, fish soup, octopus serapah, and marlin timbungan cooked in bamboo, served with long-bean urab and white rice. Dessert is green grass jelly with palm sugar. If your group does not eat fish, chicken or duck betutu and urutan (Balinese pork sausage) can be pre-ordered.
Arak from old jars
The kitchen makes its own arak: the original, arak celor steeped with moringa leaves, and a version aged over a year in clay jars. Strength runs around 30-50 percent. If you are driving yourself back to Lovina or Amed, keep it to a taste.
The downsides
- You cannot choose your dishes. Whatever was cooked that day is what you get.
- The jalanmelali writer found the food a little under-spiced. Ask for extra sambal when you book.
- It is far: about 2.5-3 hours from Denpasar, and the last few hundred metres of lane only fit a minibus.
- It closes for village ceremonies, so do not turn up without confirming.
Hours and booking
- Lunch 12:00-15:00, dinner 17:00-20:00 WITA (per Atourin and jalanmelali; other directories list different hours, checked October 2026)
- Booking: detikBali advises reserving three days ahead; find current contacts via Instagram search
- Capacity is about 50-70 guests per sitting; large groups should book early
- Location: View on Google Maps
Coming for lunch leaves time for snorkelling at Bondalem or a walk around Julah village, both a short drive west of Les.
