A plate of nasi campur at Warung Bik Juk in Kampung Kajanan, Singaraja, costs Rp25,000, and the es bir that goes with it is Rp5,000. Relax, es bir here is not beer. It is water, sugar syrup, lime juice and basil seeds.
What to order
There is really only one dish: nasi Hadijah. The official name is Warung Nasi Hadijah (also spelled Khadijah), after the current owner, the second generation, who took over from her mother, Bik Juk. A plate holds mesere (spiced shredded beef), sambal goreng, balado, shredded beef or chicken, fried lung, fried liver and fried chicken, with a choice of rawon or curry broth.
No pork is served, which is why many Muslim visitors eat here. We found no information about an official halal certificate.
What it costs and when to go
- Nasi campur Rp25,000 per plate (detikBali, January 2024; BaliInYourHands, May 2025 says from Rp25,000). With an es bir, about Rp30,000 (around US$2) per person. Prices may have gone up, so bring extra cash.
- Open 08:00 to 16:00 according to BaliInYourHands (2025).
- detikBali notes that regulars queue. If you do not want a long wait, avoid the lunch rush.
- Sources disagree on the founding year: detikBali says the 1950s, some videos say 1960. Either way it has been running for more than 60 years.
The downsides
It is a basic place with plain tables and chairs, down a narrow lane off Jalan Salak. A scooter is far easier than a car. Vegetarians should skip it, since almost every side dish is beef or chicken.
