Lost Lindenberg, Pekutatan: Eight Treehouse Suites Near Medewi

Lost Lindenberg in Banjar Yeh Kuning, Pekutatan, Jembrana, has just eight suites set in four timber towers at coconut-crown height, and its cheapest rate is about IDR 6.9 million a night including tax according to Mr & Mrs Smith (range as of October 2026). Other aggregators show averages of US$357 to US$463 a night. Rates usually include breakfast and surf sessions, weather permitting.

Rooms: two types, same size

There is the Jungle Panorama Suite, facing the trees and village temples, and the Ocean Panorama Suite in the front tower, about 12 metres above the black-sand beach. Both are 45 m² with a double bed, walk-in shower, air conditioning, WiFi and teak walls. Each tower holds two suites, linked by timber walkways roughly 10 metres up. The design is by Alexis Dornier and Studio Jencquel; the entrance is a neon wall by German artist Tobias Rehberger that hides a small door onto a jungle path.

Facilities that actually exist

  • A jungle-shaded pool with a bar beside it, and a small spa shaped like a rice barn for Balinese and aromatherapy massages.
  • A fully plant-based kitchen supplied by its own garden and nearby farmers. Dinner is served family-style at a seven-metre wooden table after the sunset bonfire on the beach; private meals can still be arranged.
  • Surfboards made with Pyzel, bicycles, e-bikes and a VW Kombi for coastal outings.
  • Solar panels and grey-water reuse. Secure parking on site.
  • Food and drinks are served roughly 7 am to 11 pm, including room service. The hotel is listed in the MICHELIN Guide with one MICHELIN Key.

Getting there

About 2.5 to 3 hours by car from Ngurah Rai Airport along the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road. Hotel transfers start at US$100 one way. The Medewi left-hander is about 10 minutes west, and the Bunut Bolong tree tunnel makes a half-day trip. Check-in from 3 pm, check-out 11 am; paperwork is handled over WhatsApp a few days before arrival.

Who it suits

Beginner to intermediate surfers who want Medewi without Canggu's crowds, couples who care about architecture, and families: all ages are welcome, with a free extra bed for children aged 3 to 12 and a free cot for ages 0 to 2.

Who it does not suit

  • Wheelchair users or anyone who struggles with stairs: suites are reached by spiral staircases and high walkways.
  • Guests who want a private-pool villa or butler service; neither exists here.
  • Committed meat eaters, since the menu is plant-based.
  • Anyone planning day trips to Seminyak or Ubud: it is too far to shuttle back and forth.
