Kebun Raya Bali in Bedugul: A Cool Haven of Orchids and Giant Trees

Sitting at around 1,250 m above sea level in Candikuning, Bedugul, Kebun Raya Bali (Bali Botanic Garden, or Kebun Raya Eka Karya) is Indonesia's largest botanic garden, spanning more than 150 hectares. The air stays cool all day, thin mist often rolls in during the morning, and giant moss-covered trees create the calming atmosphere of a mountain rainforest. It's perfect for families, plant lovers, and photographers alike.

What to See

The garden holds thousands of plant collections arranged in several themed sections. You can easily spend 2–4 hours strolling or driving slowly through the grounds.

• Orchid & Begonia Houses — colorful collections of orchids and begonias.
• Moss-covered giant rainforest trees — the most iconic and coolest spot.
• The "Instagram" garden gate — a stone gateway hugely popular for photos.
• Bali Treetop — a ropes and zipline adventure among the trees (separate ticket).
• Cactus garden, fern garden, and a medicinal plant collection.

Visiting Tips

Come in the morning when the air is freshest and the light is soft for photos. Bring a light jacket, as temperatures can drop to 18°C. Wear comfortable shoes for walking, and pack a small umbrella since light rain can arrive suddenly in the highlands. Food stalls and picnic areas are available inside the complex.

• How to visit: Open daily around 08.00–18.00. Entry is Rp15,500 per person on weekdays and Rp25,500 on holidays (Antara, 4 January 2026; checked 21 October 2026). Cars driving around inside the garden pay a separate vehicle ticket; during the 2025 Eid holiday it was Rp30,000 per car and Rp10,000 per motorbike (detikBali, 3 April 2025). Ample parking is available. It's about 1.5–2 hours' drive north from Denpasar/Kuta. Fees for other sites are in Bali entrance fees 2026 by regency.
