In an Ubud now full of large yoga studios, Intuitive Flow survives as a small, quiet space in Penestanan Kaja. Its red building sits at the edge of a rice paddy and can only be reached on foot, up steps and along a narrow path. The studio has been here for decades and is known as an honest place to practise: no long queues, just mats, the breeze off the fields, and the sound of insects in the late afternoon.
Daily Classes: Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative
- Morning (around 7am and 9am) — sunrise flow, hatha vinyasa, or a basic class for beginners.
- Late morning (around 11am) — gentle flow or a slower slow flow.
- Afternoon (around 2pm and 4pm) — deep flow, yin, yin restorative, sometimes qi gong.
- There are usually four to five classes a day, each about 90 minutes. Substitute teachers and last-minute changes are announced on the studio’s social media.
Getting There: Park First, Then Climb the Steps
- From central Ubud: climb the Penestanan (Campuhan) steps opposite Hotel Tjampuhan, then follow the path until you see the red building on your left.
- By scooter or car: park in the lanes of Penestanan Kaja, then walk a few minutes past a small rice field.
- No vehicle reaches the door, so wear comfortable footwear and travel light.
- The path gets slippery in the rain — bring a small umbrella and set off earlier.
Prices, What to Bring, and Beginner Tips
- A drop-in class costs around IDR 150,000; Indonesian ID holders pay a much lower local rate (around IDR 65,000).
- Cards for 5, 10 or 15 classes work out cheaper and suit stays of a week or more, though they carry a limited validity (usually about 30 days).
- Payment is generally in cash, so bring the right notes before walking up.
- Mats and props such as blocks, bolsters and blankets are provided; just bring a water bottle, a small towel, and clothes you can move in.
- Beginners should choose a basic, gentle or yin class and tell the teacher before it starts.
