IBU KOTA is an Indonesian bar and grill on Jl. Nelayan, Canggu, open since November 2025 as a collaboration between The Cakap Group and PT Dewata Rasa. The concept is Jakarta: open fire, sambal, cocktails, and live bands or DJs at weekends. The only published price, per Honeycombers 2026, is mains from IDR 85k++. The full menu on the official site sat behind a Cloudflare check when checked in October 2026, so ask about premium dish prices before ordering.
What to order
Honeycombers names sate maranggi, tum ayam and gulai kambing (goat curry) as must-orders, and suggests the rijsttafel if you arrive hungry so you can taste a lot at once. There are eight sambals. At the top end, the bamboo lobster with house marinade comes from a live seafood tank; NOW! Bali called it the only live seafood tank in Canggu when the restaurant opened. The classic beef rendang is slow-cooked. At the bar, the Waingapu Blossom cocktail draws on flowers from Sumba.
What it costs
The floor: two of the cheapest mains = IDR 170k before tax and service (the ++). Prices for the rijsttafel, lobster and tank seafood are not published; ask your server for the price before it's cooked. For a Canggu grilled-seafood comparison with open pricing, see Cocomo Canggu.
When to go
At opening the hours were Tuesday-Sunday 4-11pm; Honeycombers 2026 lists daily 4-11pm. Check Instagram if you're going on a Monday. For a buzz, go Friday or Saturday night for live bands or DJs. To talk, go early in the week around 4-6pm. Weekly all-you-can-eat satay, Sunday seafood brunch and happy hour were announced at opening; schedules can change.
Verdict
The plus: Indonesian cooking with a city-bar feel in an area dominated by Western cafés. It's a two-storey space (370 m², about 120 seats); upstairs has its own, quieter bar when downstairs gets loud. The minuses: prices are barely visible online, and the street number varies (No. 33 at Honeycombers, No. 35 at NOW! Bali). Live-band weekends also rule out a quiet dinner. No dress code or age limit is published; bring ID if you plan to drink. Insight Bali reports car and scooter parking, but if you're drinking, take a ride-hailing car home.
