Discovery Kartika Plaza Kuta: Who It Suits and Who It Doesn't

Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel is about 4.3 km from Ngurah Rai Airport (around 13 minutes by car per Trip.com; the hotel's own site says 5 minutes). Its lowest room rate on Trip.com was listed from about £52 a night, roughly Rp1.2 million, when checked in October 2026. This five-star hotel opened in 1990 on 10 hectares on Jl. Kartika Plaza, Tuban, with 316 rooms, suites and villas, and connects directly to Discovery Mall.

Who it suits

• Families with children. There are indoor and outdoor kids' clubs and a playground. Waterbom Bali is close by. Breakfast for children aged 4-11 costs about Rp157,500 per child if not included in the rate (per Trip.com).
• Early flights or late arrivals. It is near the airport, so it works for a first or last night in Bali.
• People who want everything close. The mall next door, The Pond restaurant, beachside Sokube, El Jardin Steakhouse, four bars, a spa and tennis court are all on site.

Who it doesn't suit

• Anyone wanting to swim right in front of the hotel. A guest who stayed in January 2026 wrote on Trip.com that the beach in front is rocky and hard to access. Sandy Kuta Beach is about 1.2 km north.
• Light sleepers. An undated Oyster review says Garden View rooms in the right wing can pick up noise from the neighbouring nightclub. Ask for another wing when you book.
• Fans of new design. Trip.com lists the last room renovation as 2016. The newer work is in the dining areas: furniture supplier BLOOM (2024) says Sokube, El Jardin and the Lobby Bar were recently renovated. Standard rooms still have a classic Balinese look.

Prices and offers, checked October 2026

• OTA rate: from about Rp1.2 million a night on Trip.com; prices change by date and may exclude tax.
• Anniversary Deluxe package: from Rp2.9 million nett on the official site, including breakfast, a Rp350,000 Discovery Mall voucher and 15% off spa treatments. Ask how many nights it covers.
• The 10.10 flash sale (60% off Deluxe) was bookable only 10-12 October 2026 and has ended.
• For comparison, the hotel's Chinese New Year 2026 package started at Rp1.4 million per room per night (Bloomberg Technoz).

The hotel is marking its 36th anniversary, with events from August 2026 to a peak on 5 January 2027 (ANTARA). 24 December 2026-5 January 2027 is blacked out from some promotions, so book early for the year-end holidays.
