Denpasar Festival — known locally as Denfest — is the annual city party staged by the Denpasar city government in the heart of Bali’s capital. The format is a street festival: the Catur Muka area, Puputan Badung Square, Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Veteran turn into art stages, food bazaars and craft showcases. The 18th edition ran from 20 to 23 December 2025 under the theme Mulat Sarira Hening Jiwa, Eling Rasa with a zero-waste concept.
What You Can Enjoy
- Art and culture stages: the opening inauguration, gamelan ensembles, dance, and a music stage with a different line-up each night.
- Food bazaar: Denpasar’s own street snacks alongside modern café fare, concentrated around Puputan Square and the Bali Museum pavilion.
- Crafts and small businesses: the 18th edition featured 174 curated local enterprises — coffee, handicraft, textiles, fashion, metalwork and agro products.
- Parades and community activations along Gajah Mada, the heritage street that forms the spine of old Denpasar.
When It Runs and How to Check the Schedule
Denfest is usually held in late December over roughly four days, closing out the city’s events calendar. Because exact dates are only announced a few weeks ahead, check the official schedule at denpasarfestival.id, the Instagram account @denpasarfestival, or the Denpasar tourism office before you plan. Entry is free across the whole site, with no ticket or registration.
Tips for Visiting
- Arrive around 4–5pm: the heat has eased, the bazaar has just opened, and you can settle in before the main stage starts.
- Roads are closed to traffic, so wear comfortable shoes — you will walk a fair distance.
- Parking near Puputan Square fills fast; consider the Badung–Kumbasari market area, or take a ride-hailing bike and walk the last stretch.
- Bring small cash notes and have QRIS ready — most stalls accept both.
- Bring your own water bottle; the festival runs on a zero-waste concept.
