Tucked behind cliffs near Padangbai harbour, Blue Lagoon Beach is a tiny white-sand bay in Karangasem, eastern Bali. Though small, it is famous as a snorkeling paradise for beginners thanks to its calm, shallow, crystal-blue water.
Why It Suits Beginners
Unlike dive spots with strong currents, Blue Lagoon offers relatively gentle waters. Just a few meters from the shore you can already see coral reefs and colorful fish swimming around you.
- Reefs near the shore: no need to swim far to see marine life.
- Tropical fish: clownfish, butterflyfish, and sometimes small turtles.
- Gear rental: masks, snorkels, and fins are available at the beach stalls.
Tips Before You Go
Come in the morning when the water is clearest and the waves are calm. Bring drinking water and reef-safe sunscreen. Be careful of the coral at low tide so you neither damage it nor cut your feet.
