Dusun Kuning Waterfall is one of the most charming hidden cascades in the Bangli area. Set in Taman Bali, only about 40 minutes from Ubud, this ~25-metre waterfall drops into a natural pool at the bottom of a lush green valley. It stays calm and rarely crowded, ideal if you want peace away from the main tourist spots.
Trekking Down to the Falls
From the parking area you'll follow concrete steps and then a metal staircase descending through a small patch of jungle. The walk down takes only about 10-15 minutes and suits almost any level, though the steps are fairly steep. Along the way you'll pass a small Balinese temple and a few smaller streams before reaching the main falls.
- A troop of monkeys sometimes hangs around the trail, so don't tempt them with open food.
- The plunge pool below is cool and deep enough for a dip.
- Bring water shoes or hiking sandals as the rocks are slippery.
Safety in the Rainy Season
During the rainy season the steps can get very slippery and water flow rises. Avoid visiting right after heavy rain, watch for muddy water that can signal a flash flood, and always keep a safe distance from strong currents.
- Entrance fee: around Rp10,000-20,000 per person.
- Come early for the best light and drier trails.
- Bring drinking water, non-slip shoes, and a light rain jacket.
