A plate of mujair nyat-nyat at Warung Jowet costs about Rp30,000, not including white rice at Rp5,000, according to a visitor's post from March 2025. Another source quotes Rp35,000 for the full set with rice. The whole menu ranges from Rp5,000 to Rp50,000, and the warung is open daily from 08:00 to 19:00.
What to Order
The main dish is tilapia (mujair) from Lake Batur cooked nyat-nyat style, simmered in yellow spice paste until the sauce reduces and soaks in. It comes with rice, plecing vegetables, fried peas and sambal. Reviewers describe it as savoury and spicy with a strong aroma, punchy but still manageable for low spice tolerance, and the fish does not taste muddy. There is also fried fish, fish soup, chicken with sambal matah and chicken nyat-nyat. For children who skip fish, Google reviews mention fried rice.
The View and When to Come
The warung faces north, so Mount Batur, Lake Batur and Mount Abang are clear from the tables. Come before the lunch peak: reviewers advise arriving early to pick your fish size before the big ones run out. It is also a sensible stop after the Mount Batur sunrise trek.
The Downsides
Payment is cash only. It scores around 4.1 on Google from nearly 800 reviews, and some rate the food as merely "okay" rather than special. Tilapia also has plenty of fine bones, so eat slowly. If coffee and a café setting matter more to you, Paperhills nearby is a better fit.
