A classic margarita at Lacalita Canggu costs IDR 145,000 a glass or IDR 725,000 a jug, before 6% service and 10% tax (July 2026 drinks menu, checked October 2026). This Mexican bar and kitchen at Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No. 68 is open daily from noon to midnight. The brand has been in Bali since 2012 and has a second branch in Seminyak.
What to order
Margaritas are the reason to come. The Lacalaca, billed on the menu as Bali's original spicy margarita, uses jalapeño-infused tequila and starfruit, IDR 150,000 a glass. The Don, made with Don Julio reposado, is IDR 220,000. If you cannot decide, Margarita Flights at IDR 250,000 gives you three half-size margaritas of your choice. Beer drinkers can order Bintang at IDR 60,000 or Island Brewing draught at IDR 80,000, and mocktails are IDR 60,000.
The food is solid drinking fare: tacos come in threes from IDR 135,000 (baja fish, chicken adobo), al pastor is IDR 170,000 and nachos IDR 145,000. The corn tortillas are made in-house daily and are gluten free.
The best night to go
The official website lists two weekly events: Taco Tuesday with IDR 35,000 tacos all day, and Agave Night every Saturday with 2-for-1 tequila and mezcal shots and flights. Honeycombers mentions tastings on Fridays, while the official site says Saturday; go with the site. Saturday nights are the busiest, and a 2-for-1 deal makes it easy to drink faster than planned. A jug is roughly five glasses, so split it between three or four people.
Honest verdict
Lacalita works better as a warm-up before a club than as the final stop: it closes at midnight, has no dance floor and feels like a loud restaurant. Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong is often jammed in the evening and parking is tight, so arriving by ojek or ride-hailing makes more sense, especially if you plan to drink (see the drink-driving limit in Bali). For two people with two Lacalacas, one taco plate and nachos, budget about IDR 675,000 (around US$41) after tax and service.
There is no written dress code; casual Canggu clothes are fine. Indonesia's legal drinking age is 21, so bring ID. If you want to keep going with beer, Black Sand Brewery is on the same street.
