Amertha Bali Villas or Pondok Sari? Choosing a Pemuteran Resort

Amertha Bali Villas lists rates from IDR 1,000,000 a night on its promotions page, and Kayak Canada showed a C$115 deal (roughly IDR 1.3-1.4 million) when checked in October 2026. That buys a villa with its own pool on Pemuteran Bay, in a resort of only 14 units. The real question is whether it beats Pondok Sari, the bungalow resort on the same beach that Travelocity showed from about US$95 for one night in March 2026.

What you get at Amertha

• 14 villas in two classes: 3 Oceanfront Villas and 11 Garden View (7 standard, 2 Deluxe, 2 Family), plus a two-bedroom bungalow called Saraswati with a full kitchen.
• In every villa: private pool, kitchenette, smart TV, indoor and outdoor showers, poolside gazebo. Tropical continental breakfast is included.
• You can book a single suite or a whole villa. This matters: with one suite, the villa pool may be shared with guests in the other suite. Some aggregator reviews do mention pool privacy and patchy maintenance in a few villas.
• The sea in front is the Karang Lestari coral restoration area, and the Reef Seen turtle hatchery is next door. Divers and snorkellers just walk to the beach.
• Guest score: 9.3 from about 560 ratings on Kayak (checked October 2026), with repeated praise for the gardens and village location.

The part to read twice

The cancellation policy is strict for a small resort. Per the official site, cancellations must be emailed 49 days before arrival in normal season (March-June, September, October) and 30 days before in the July-August high season. Miss that and you pay one night; a deposit is required to hold the booking. Extra bed IDR 325,000; children under 12 stay free in their parents' suite without an extra bed. One local directory also mentions a two-night minimum, so ask when booking.

It is also far: about 3 hours from Ngurah Rai Airport by the resort's own estimate. That distance is what keeps Pemuteran quiet and close to Menjangan Island.

Pondok Sari as the benchmark

Pondok Sari is cheaper and easier to book flexibly on regular OTAs, with bungalow rooms and no private pools. If your plan is two days of diving before moving on, a simple beachfront room is enough. If you want afternoons in your own villa, a kitchenette for late snacks, or kids who will live in the pool, Amertha gives you more space. The verdict: choose Amertha if you are staying at least two nights, your dates are fixed well ahead, and a private pool is the main reason you are going to Pemuteran. Choose Pondok Sari if your budget is under about IDR 1.5 million a night or your plans may still change.
