On the Tukad Yeh Ho river in Senganan village, Penebel district, Tabanan, hides a wide waterfall that still sees a fraction of the crowds at Tegenungan or Sekumpul. Locals call it Air Terjun Yeh Ho — often spelled “Yeh Hoo” — and it sits right inside the Jatiluwih subak rice belt with Mount Batukaru behind it.
What the waterfall is actually like
- Wide, not tall. The curtain drops only about 3–8 metres, but it spreads across tiered rock ledges so it reads like a natural canal rather than a single spout.
- Shallow pool. The riverbed is rounded boulders with knee- to waist-deep water — good for a short soak, not for real swimming.
- Quiet and cool. On weekdays there are often only a handful of visitors, and morning air in the gorge carries the chill of the Batukaru foothills.
Access, the walk down, and what to bring
- Park at the caretaker’s warung, then walk about 250 metres (roughly 10 minutes) down into the valley.
- The trail is a mix: rocky dirt path, iron stairs built by villagers themselves, and older concrete steps with bamboo handrails — use the railings carefully.
- Wear non-slip shoes or sandals, and bring a change of clothes, drinking water, and small cash notes; there is no ATM nearby.
- Not ideal for seniors, toddlers, or bad knees: the steps are many and fairly steep.
Tickets, best hours, and combining the route
- Entrance runs around Rp 5,000–Rp 10,000 per person (domestic visitors pay less than foreign visitors), plus a few thousand rupiah for parking. Rates are set by the village, so they can change.
- Come between about 08:00 and 15:00, when light reaches into the gorge and the warung is reliably open.
- Avoid heavy rainy-season days or afternoons right after rain — the flow rises fast and the steps get very slippery.
- Facilities are basic: a warung, a simple changing room, toilets, and a shelter to sit in.
- If you enter via the Jatiluwih tourism area there is a separate area ticket (around Rp 15,000 for domestic visitors). Ideal route: Yeh Ho in the morning, the Jatiluwih rice terraces midday, then Pura Luhur Batukaru, only 30–40 minutes away.
