Ceremony Balinese holy day Official date

Tumpek Landep

Saturday, 14 November 2026 in 23 days

Blessing day for metal objects. Cars, scooters and even laptops get palm-leaf decorations and offerings.

Practical advice

Renting a scooter? Do not be surprised by an offering on the seat — never bin it, just move it gently and let the owner handle it.

What happens

Tumpek Landep honours objects made of metal — historically the keris blade, today also cars, scooters and tools. Vehicles are washed, decorated with young palm leaf, given offerings and sprinkled with holy water.

Impact on your trip

Nothing closes. The roads simply look festive, with decorations on almost every vehicle.

What you can do

If you rent a scooter it will likely be blessed too — a small offering on the seat or handlebars is normal and well-meant. Do not throw it in the bin in front of the owner; just move it carefully aside.

Balinese holy days follow the Pawukon and Saka calendars; Nyepi and national holiday dates follow official government decrees. If your dates are critical, confirm once more with your hotel or airline.
