Tulamben Ocean Harmony Festival 2026: 22-24 October Guide

Tulamben Ocean Harmony Festival 2026 is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, 22-24 October 2026, at Rest Area Tulamben in Kubu district, Karangasem. The dates and venue appear in the Karangasem Calendar of Event 2026, published by the Karangasem Culture and Tourism Office in January 2026. As of 28 September 2026 we had not found an hour-by-hour programme.

What kind of event is it?

An annual marine festival run by the regency tourism office to promote Tulamben as a dive village, combined with a clean-ocean campaign. The 2025 edition ran under the theme "Dive Into Culture, Create the Future" and closed on Saturday 25 October 2025 at the village's central parking area, according to Bali Police's Tribratanews.

What can visitors actually see?

The official calendar describes the festival (based on the previous edition) like this:

  • A night market and a blue-economy exhibition by local businesses.
  • Traditional Karangasem performing arts combined with projection mapping.
  • A Youth Ocean Lab for young innovators, plus social programmes for low-income residents.
  • Yoga and Zumba on the shore.
  • A zero-plastic campaign and an "Adopt a Coral" programme.
  • A closing underwater photography competition.

The 2026 line-up may differ, so treat this as a guide rather than a fixed schedule.

Do I need a ticket?

The official calendar mentions no entry ticket, and past editions took place in open village spaces. Bring cash for the night market. Diving is still paid through dive centres; uncertified divers normally need an introductory programme with an instructor.

Can I dive the Liberty wreck the same trip?

Yes, and that is the best reason to go. The USAT Liberty wreck lies close to Tulamben's shore and is reached from the beach. Main festival events lean towards the afternoon and evening, so book morning dives. Experienced divers can add the Tulamben Drop Off on the other side of the bay.

What etiquette matters?

  • If there is an opening prayer or sacred performance, do not walk in front of people praying and do not photograph at close range without asking.
  • Dress modestly to watch traditional performances. Swimwear belongs on the beach and at dive entry points.
  • The festival campaigns against plastic: bring your own water bottle and take your rubbish with you.
  • Do not touch or stand on coral when snorkelling, including around the coral adoption sites.

What gets busy and what is disrupted?

Tulamben sits on the main Amlapura-Singaraja coastal road, so traffic can back up near the venue during evening events. Parking around the rest area is likely limited; arrive early or take an ojek from your accommodation. Dive centres and warungs stay open as usual and are busier than normal.

Where to stay?

Tulamben's own guesthouses are small and fill quickly over a festival weekend. Amed is about 30 minutes' drive away, and beachfront resorts such as Siddhartha in Kubu are closer still. For three nights over 22-24 October, check AccessiaPass stay vouchers around Amed and Tulamben before room rates climb.
