At the northernmost end of Nusa Dua's beaches, Pantai Samuh offers something increasingly rare in southern Bali: water as shallow as a swimming pool and white sand where you aren't fighting vendors for space. It sits on Jalan Segara Samuh, Benoa Village, Kuta Selatan District, Badung Regency — right behind big resorts such as Grand Hyatt Bali.
Why the Water Is So Calm
- Sheltered by an offshore reef. The reef in front of the beach breaks the swell before it reaches the sand.
- Kid- and beginner-friendly. The seabed is sandy and gently sloping, with no strong currents.
- It faces east. Samuh is a sunrise beach, not a sunset one — come between 5.30 and 6.30 a.m.
- Don't mix it up. Pantai Mengiat lies immediately south, then Geger; Sawangan is farther south again with far bigger surf.
Facilities and Activities
- A large car park, toilets and rinse rooms, warung and cafes, and shade trees along the back of the sand.
- A paved jogging track links to the Nusa Dua promenade; about 1.5–2 km south are Pantai Mengiat and the Water Blow on Peninsula Island.
- Kayaks, paddleboards and shallow snorkelling. Rates vary by operator, generally around Rp50,000–150,000 per session — ask before you get in.
Getting There and Best Time
- About 14 km from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport; 20–30 minutes via the Bali Mandara toll road, then Jl. Pratama and Jl. Segara Samuh. Roughly 45 minutes from Denpasar.
- Bring flip-flops, sunscreen, and small cash for parking and the warung.
- Best time: early morning until about 9 a.m., or from 5 p.m. when the heat eases.
Practical Info & Booking

Because Samuh is at its best just after sunrise, staying in Nusa Dua means a few minutes on foot rather than a pre-dawn drive — and an AccessiaPass hotel voucher can be an economical way to lock in a room nearby.
