Bali Hot Springs Guide 2026: 8 Real Hot Springs, Tickets, Opening Hours & How to Pair Them With a Stay

Bali is not only beaches. Its volcanic slopes hide dozens of hot springs that local families have used for therapy for generations. This guide covers eight real hot springs in Bali with their area, ticket range, opening hours and character, plus how to combine them with an overnight stay so the trip never turns into a marathon drive.

Why Bali has so many hot springs

Most of the island's hot springs sit along two volcanic lines: the Mount Batur area in Kintamani and the slopes of Mount Batukaru in Tabanan, plus sulphur sources on the West Bali coast. Rainwater seeps underground, is heated by magmatic activity and returns to the surface carrying minerals such as sulphur and calcium. That is why the water reaches 37–45 degrees Celsius and has its distinctive smell.

Two kinds of pools you will meet

  • Simple village pools — run by the banjar or village, tickets cost only a few tens of thousands of rupiah, facilities are basic, and locals use them daily.
  • Resort-managed pools — tidy pools with towels, lockers, restaurants and sometimes an infinity pool facing the lake; tickets run from tens to hundreds of thousands of rupiah.

Etiquette and safety

  • Soak for 15–20 minutes then rest, and get out immediately if you feel dizzy or your heart races.
  • Drink water before and after, and avoid soaking after alcohol or on an empty stomach.
  • Pregnant travellers and anyone with heart conditions or high blood pressure should ask a doctor first.
  • Take off silver jewellery, because sulphur can blacken it.
  • Never use soap or shampoo in natural pools, wear modest swimwear, and respect locals who are using the pool.

8 real hot springs in Bali

  • Air Panas Banjar (Banjar village, Buleleng) — the icon of north Bali with its dragon-shaped spouts; tickets around IDR 15,000–20,000 for adults, open roughly 8.30am to 5.30pm, lockers for a few thousand rupiah. Maps
  • Toya Devasya (Toya Bungkah, Kintamani) — a resort with around nine pools including an infinity pool facing Lake Batur; tickets about IDR 80,000–100,000 for domestic visitors, open from morning to late afternoon. Maps
  • Batur Natural Hot Spring (Toya Bungkah, Kintamani) — Toya Devasya's neighbour barely a hundred metres away; tickets from about IDR 70,000 up to IDR 190,000 depending on the package, usually including towel, locker and a welcome drink; open roughly 7am to 7pm. Maps
  • Air Panas Tirta Usadha (Batur Tengah, Kintamani) — three pools at around 37–40 degrees and far quieter than its two neighbours; tickets about IDR 30,000–50,000. Maps
  • Air Panas Angseri (Baturiti, Tabanan) — pools in a green valley on the Batukaru slopes with private cubicles rented by the hour; public pool tickets around IDR 15,000–35,000, open roughly 8am to 6pm and later at weekends. Maps
  • Air Panas Penatahan (Yeh Panes) (Penebel, Tabanan) — hot water rising beside the Yeh Ho river with both public and private pools; tickets around IDR 10,000–40,000 per person. Maps
  • Air Panas Belulang (Mengesta, Penebel, Tabanan) — a simple pool in the middle of rice fields; tickets around IDR 5,000–30,000 with basic changing rooms, toilets and warungs. Maps
  • Air Panas Banyuwedang (Pejarakan, Gerokgak, West Bali) — a sulphur source emerging at the shoreline near mangroves and West Bali National Park; tickets around IDR 15,000–20,000. Maps

Routes that pair hot springs with a stay

  • Kintamani — trek Mount Batur or have breakfast over the caldera, then soak at Toya Bungkah; sleep in Kintamani or Ubud so you avoid driving at night.
  • Munduk and Lovina — combine Air Panas Banjar with Brahmavihara-Arama and the waterfalls around Munduk; stay in Lovina or Munduk.
  • Tabanan and Batukaru — Angseri, Penatahan and Belulang sit close together and pair well with the Jatiluwih rice terraces; stay in Tabanan or Ubud.
  • West Bali — Banyuwedang works well alongside snorkelling at Menjangan Island; stay in Pemuteran.

How to save

  • Arrive early while the air is still cool and tour groups have not filled the pools.
  • Bring your own towel and sandals so you skip the rental fees.
  • Pick village pools for relaxed soaks and save the budget for one resort pool with a view.
  • For far-flung areas such as Buleleng and West Bali, one night in a hotel is usually cheaper and safer than forcing a return drive from the south.

If your plan touches Kintamani, Tabanan or north Bali, comfort comes down to sleeping close to the route. Check the AccessiaPass hotel vouchers to lock in a room near your chosen hot spring trail, then soak for as long as you like without racing the sunset home.
