Golf in Bali offers something few destinations can match: on one small island you can hit from a limestone cliff over the Indian Ocean in the morning, then play inside a mountain caldera at 20 degrees the next day. This guide only lists courses whose status we checked and confirmed as operating in 2026, with realistic cost ranges.
Bali Golf Courses Verified as Operating
- Bali National Golf Club (Nusa Dua) - 18 holes, par 71, around 7,100 yards, redesigned by Nelson & Haworth. The first nine wind through creeks, canyons and tropical vegetation, holes 10-16 run through a mature grove, and holes 17-18 deliver an island green and lakeside finish. Only 15-20 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport via the Bali Mandara toll road. Green fees sit in the IDR 1.9 million - 2.5 million range and normally include a shared buggy, caddie and bottled water. - New Kuta Golf (Pecatu) - a links style course inside Pecatu Indah Resort, built on cliffs above the Dreamland surf break. Expect rolling fairways, strong sea breeze and several holes with full ocean panorama. Green fees run IDR 2.2 million - 2.8 million, with club set rental around IDR 600,000. Afternoon packages are popular for the sunset. Google Maps
- Handara Golf & Resort Bali (Pancasari, Bedugul area) - Bali’s oldest course, operating since 1974 and renovated in 2024. Par 72 over roughly 7,000 yards inside a volcanic caldera at about 1,140 metres above sea level, often named among the world’s best mountain courses. Daytime temperatures sit at 18-24 degrees, so bring a layer. Green fees range IDR 1.6 million - 2.1 million, usually including buggy, caddie, insurance and tax. Google Maps
- Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club (Ungasan) - opened in October 2016 as 18 par-3 holes on a limestone clifftop facing the Indian Ocean. A round finishes in about three hours, which suits beginners, families and time-poor players. Green fees range IDR 1.3 million - 1.8 million including shared cart and caddie, usually before 10 percent tax. Google Maps
- Bali Beach Golf Course (Sanur) - the island’s only 9-hole layout, established in 1972 and reopened after an upgrade in 2005. Flat, shaded, close to the beach and served by a floodlit driving range. Nine-hole green fees range from about IDR 500,000 for Indonesian ID or KITAS holders up to roughly IDR 1.1 million for foreign visitors, including caddie, trolley, insurance and tax. Google Maps
Accuracy note: every figure above is a range, not an official tariff. Prices change by season and day of the week - confirm when you book. We deliberately left out Nirwana Bali Golf Club near Tanah Lot because it has remained closed for renovation since 2017.
Best Season and Tee-Off Times
- April to October is the dry season: firm fairways, steady wind and the lowest chance of cancellation.
- November to March is still very playable if you take a morning tee-off, since rain usually arrives in the afternoon.
- Tee-off between 6.30 and 8 am gives the coolest air, freshest greens and emptiest course.
- After 2 pm many clubs offer cheaper twilight rates, ideal for a quick nine.
- At Handara the air stays cool all day, but mist often rolls in after midday.
Dress Code and Course Etiquette
- A collared shirt plus golf trousers or golf shorts are required; sleeveless tops, jeans and swim shorts are refused at almost every club.
- Wear soft-spike golf shoes; some clubs offer shoe rental.
- A caddie is nearly always compulsory in Bali and usually included in the green fee, but the caddie tip is paid separately in cash, typically IDR 150,000-300,000 per round.
- Club set rental runs about IDR 500,000-800,000, while shoes and balls are charged separately.
- Bring a hat, sunscreen and extra water; Bali humidity feels heavy even in the morning.
How to Book Without Drama
- Reserve your tee time 3 to 7 days ahead, and earlier still in July, August and December.
- Always ask what is included: buggy, caddie, insurance and tax are often quoted separately.
- Get the rate confirmed in writing by email or message, especially for two-course packages.
- Check stay and play offers from nearby resorts, which are often cheaper than booking each part alone.
- Arrange return transport in advance: Handara is roughly two hours from south Bali.
Where to Stay Near the Courses and How to Save
- Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa - the most practical base for Bali National Golf Club and close to the airport.
- Pecatu, Ungasan and Jimbaran - ideal if you want to play New Kuta Golf and Bukit Pandawa on back-to-back days.
- Sanur - quiet, mid-priced and only minutes from Bali Beach Golf Course.
- Bedugul and Pancasari - cool and calm, essential for an early round at Handara without a long drive.
- Saving tips: take two nights in one area, play two nearby courses, and book the room with a voucher so accommodation does not eat into your green fee budget.
Green fees in Bali are not cheap, so it makes sense to save on the room instead. Compare rates and book your stay voucher at AccessiaPass - flexible Bali hotel vouchers covering Nusa Dua, Pecatu, Sanur and Bedugul, so you can add one more round without adding to your budget.
