Choosing Your Area & Staying Near a Gym

  • Canggu, Berawa & Pererenan — the highest concentration of venues and the only area with several fight clubs. Ideal for training nearly every day; the downsides are afternoon traffic and the highest room rates.
  • Seminyak & Kerobokan — closest to the airport and the cheapest per month. The focus is weights and group classes, not martial arts.
  • Ubud — strong on Muay Thai, CrossFit and mobility, but the venues are spread up to 8 km from the centre, so you will need a scooter.
  • Uluwatu & Sanur — Uluwatu pairs surf with CrossFit and the venues sit far apart; Sanur is quieter, flatter and good for morning runs.
  • Where to stay: pick a room within a ten-minute ride of the gym. A 20-minute trip on the map can turn into 45 at rush hour — the single most common reason people stop training.

Etiquette, What to Bring, Heat & Checklist

  • Bring: a small towel (many gyms require one), a litre of water, sandals for wet areas, and your own hand wraps for boxing or Muay Thai. Gloves and shin guards are usually available to rent.
  • Etiquette: take your shoes off before stepping on the mats, do not photograph other members, rerack your weights, and arrive ten minutes early.
  • Heat: midday often reaches 30–33°C and stays humid. Hard sessions feel best before 09.00 or after 17.00; add electrolytes, not just water.
  • Hygiene: grappling in the tropics accelerates skin infections — shower immediately and cover open wounds.
  • Before you pay: confirm prices and the timetable by message that same day, ask whether the rate includes 10% tax and 5% service, and check your insurance, since some policies exclude contact sports.

A training routine in Bali stands or falls on one thing: the distance from your room to the gym. Decide which venue you want first, then book the nearest stay with an AccessiaPass hotel voucher. With the rate difference, a month of gym membership is often paid for by what you save on a few nights of accommodation.
