Bali 3-Day 2-Night Itinerary 2026: Efficient Route from the Airport, Cost Breakdown & Saving with Hotel Vouchers

Three days in Bali really is enough — the problem is almost never time, it is the route. The most expensive mistake is stacking Ubud and Uluwatu into the same day: they are only about 60 km apart, but that can take 2–2.5 hours each way in the afternoon.

The 3-day, 2-night itinerary below splits Bali by region rather than by wish list, so you spend your hours at the places instead of on the road.

Day 1 — Landing, Then South Bali

  • Airport → Pecatu/Uluwatu: about 45–60 minutes. If you land in the morning, drop your bags at the hotel first (most accept an early luggage drop).
  • Melasti Beach Ungasan or Pandawa Beach (12:00–15:00): a dramatic limestone cliff road, tickets around Rp10–25k per person plus Rp2–5k parking. Both are roughly 20–30 minutes from Uluwatu. Maps
  • Pura Luhur Uluwatu + sunset Kecak dance: the site opens roughly 07:00–19:00, entry around Rp40k (domestic adult; foreign visitors slightly more). Kecak tickets run around Rp140–150k for adults and about Rp70–75k for children, with 18:00 and 19:00 sessions. Arrive by 17:00 for a central seat. Maps
  • Jimbaran seafood dinner: about 30–40 minutes from Uluwatu. Beachfront cafes run around Rp150–350k per person; the thrifty version is buying fish at Kedonganan Fish Market and paying a grilling fee. Maps

Day 2 — A Full Day in Ubud

  • Leave 07:00–07:30 from south Bali; the drive to Ubud takes about 1.5–2 hours in the morning and up to 2.5 hours if you leave later.
  • Tegallalang Rice Terrace (open roughly 08:00–18:00, tickets around Rp25k plus a trail donation of about Rp10–20k). Arrive before 09:00 while the terraces are still misty and quiet. Maps
  • Pura Tirta Empul (about 25 minutes from Tegallalang, tickets around Rp30k domestic / Rp50k foreign) for a melukat purification, or Goa Gajah for a shorter stop (around Rp30–50k). Maps
  • Lunch in Ubud, then the Campuhan Ridge Walk — free, roughly 2 km return along a grassy ridge. Skip 11:00–15:00 because of the heat; 16:00 is far more pleasant. Maps
  • Ubud Palace (free, front courtyard open during the day) and an evening dance performance in its courtyard, tickets around Rp100–150k, usually starting 19:30. Maps

Day 3 — Tanah Lot or Canggu/Seminyak, Then the Airport

  • Evening flight: check out, then Pura Tanah Lot (open roughly 06:00–19:00; tickets around Rp30–40k domestic and about Rp75–100k for foreigners). It is about 1.5 hours from Ubud, and 1.5–2 hours from Tanah Lot to the airport at rush hour. Maps
  • Midday flight: choose Canggu (brunch on Batu Bolong, about 1–1.5 hours to the airport) or Seminyak for shopping and a massage (30–50 minutes to the airport).
  • Safe rule: leave for the airport 3 hours before an international flight and 2.5 hours for a domestic one — Sunset Road and the Ngurah Rai Bypass clog up between 16:00 and 19:00.

Cost Breakdown per Person (Excluding Flights)

  • Mandatory for foreign visitors: the Foreign Tourist Levy of Rp150,000, paid once per visit via the Love Bali site/app or the BRI counter at the airport. Keep the QR code.
  • Budget: accommodation Rp250–450k per room per night (split between two), scooter rental Rp70–100k/day plus fuel, warung meals Rp100–150k/day, tickets roughly Rp250–400k in total. Estimated 3D2N: Rp1.3–2 million per person.
  • Comfort: hotel Rp800k–1.5 million per night, car with driver around Rp600–900k per day (10 hours, split between two), meals Rp350–600k/day, tickets and shows Rp400–600k. Estimated 3D2N: Rp3.5–5.5 million per person.
  • Note: a car with driver usually includes fuel for in-town routes; parking, entrance tickets, and the driver's meal often are not included — ask upfront.

Choosing a Base So You Don't Waste Time

  • Most efficient: two nights in one place. Moving hotels every night costs 1–2 hours in packing, checkout, and driving.
  • Seminyak/Kuta/Legian: 30–50 minutes from the airport, close to beaches and restaurants — the safest choice for a short trip.
  • Jimbaran: 20–30 minutes from the airport and nearest to Uluwatu, ideal if Days 1 and 3 are centred in the south.
  • Splitting one night south + one night Ubud only makes sense if Day 2 ends in Ubud and your Day 3 flight departs in the evening.

Quick Pre-Departure Checklist

  • Proof of the Foreign Tourist Levy payment, passport, and hotel confirmations in one phone folder.
  • Small cash notes for parking, temple donations, and warungs; many places now accept QRIS.
  • A sarong plus sash for temple entries — it saves repeated rental fees.
  • Ride-hailing apps, a local eSIM, sunscreen, and comfortable sandals for temple stairs.

On a trip this short, an hour lost in traffic means one attraction cancelled — so where you sleep matters more than how many stars it has. Compare prices and book an AccessiaPass hotel voucher for a stay right on your planned axis, whether that is Seminyak, Jimbaran, or Ubud, then redirect the savings into Kecak tickets, a Jimbaran seafood dinner, or a last-day spa session.
