Air Sanih: The Freshwater Spring Pool That Empties Straight Into the Bali Sea

Picture swimming in ice-cold fresh water, then lifting your head to watch Bali Sea waves break just a few steps from the pool's edge. That is Air Sanih — locals call it Yeh Sanih — in Bukti Village, Kubutambahan District, about 17 km east of Singaraja. It barely registers with foreign tourists, yet Buleleng families have loved it for decades.

Water From the Earth, Not From a Pipe

The Air Sanih pool is fed by a natural spring rising from an underground river, flowing nonstop before emptying straight into the sea. The floor is natural stone rather than tile, and the water is never chlorinated, so it feels fresh and glassy clear.

  • Two separate pools: a deeper one for adults, a shallow one for children.
  • The cold water temperature stays steady year-round, best enjoyed between 8am and 11am.
  • A garden of shade trees rings the pool, with plenty of cool spots to spread out a mat.

Costs and Facilities

  • Entry is roughly Rp10,000 for adults and around Rp5,000 for children.
  • Locker rental about Rp5,000–10,000; rinse rooms about Rp2,000.
  • Inner-tube float rental about Rp15,000 each.
  • Motorbike and car parking is available on the south side of the main road.
  • Warungs selling nasi campur, noodle soup, and young coconut line the entrance; bringing your own food is allowed too.

Pair It With the Nearby Temples

Air Sanih sits right on the Singaraja–Amlapura road, so it slots easily into a half-day trip. Pura Meduwe Karang in Kubutambahan is only about 10 minutes west, while Pura Ponjok Batu, perched on seaside rock, is roughly 20 minutes east. Always carry a sarong and sash if you plan to enter a temple courtyard.
