Elevate Bali Munduk: Questions to Ask Before You Book

Elevate Bali is a 26-villa resort in the Munduk highlands of Buleleng, about five minutes' drive from Lake Tamblingan. Rates shown on third-party booking sites through 2026 ranged from US$222 to US$309 a night (roughly IDR 3.6-5 million), depending on the date and the site. Some OTAs list it as "Elevate Bali by Hanging Gardens".

What does it cost, and what is included?

The official site shows no prices; rates only appear in its direct booking engine once you pick dates. The US$222-309 range above comes from Agoda, Booking.com and Hotels.com snapshots on different dates, so check your own dates. According to the official site, every villa type includes breakfast for two, turndown, afternoon tea from 15:00 to 17:00, a welcome drink and a free shuttle to Lake Tamblingan and Wanagiri Hidden Hill. Booking direct through the website adds 10% off food at Clouds Kitchen and 15% off spa treatments.

Which villa fits?

• Volcano Vista Villa (89 m², one king bed, hot tub): for couples.
• Volcano Panorama Villa (97 m², two beds, up to 4 adults): for two couples or a small family.
• Mountain Infinity Pool Villa (163 m², private infinity pool): king bed downstairs, twin beds upstairs. There are stairs, so it is a poor fit for older guests or anyone who struggles with steps.
• Grand View Pool Villa (183 m²), Presidential Villa (200 m²) and Elevate Palace (200 m², three beds, 6 adults) for groups.

How far is it, and what is the road like?

Ngurah Rai Airport to Munduk takes about 2.5 hours by car via Bedugul, on winding, climbing mountain roads. If you get carsick, bring medication and aim to arrive before dark. Melanting Waterfall is about 2.5 km from the resort. Download offline maps before you set off, just in case on the mountain stretch.

How cold does it get at night?

One TripAdvisor reviewer recorded night temperatures of around 16°C in August. Pack a jacket and socks; this is not beach Bali, and fog can hide the view.

What do reviews complain about?

• Some guests found dinner less convincing than breakfast, including noise from the kitchen and bar.
• One reviewer called the spa the most expensive of their whole trip.
• Recent reviews (August-September 2026) mostly praise the views and villa pools, so the weak points are dinner and extras rather than the rooms.

What can you do without going far?

On site there is the Avocado Spa, a yoga terrace, a gym and sauna, and the Wine Cellar (18:00-23:00). Clouds Kitchen serves breakfast 07:00-11:00, lunch 12:00-17:00 and dinner 18:00-23:00; Pule Coffee Shop is open 10:00-18:00. Outside, the free shuttle runs to Lake Tamblingan, and Melanting Waterfall is close enough for a morning walk.
