Rajapala Waterfall in Pujungan village, Pupuan district, Tabanan, now charges Rp15,000 for domestic visitors and Rp25,000 for foreign visitors. It is run by BUMDes Sanjiwani, the village-owned enterprise (Bali Post, 2 January 2026; checked October 2026). This two-tier fall on the cliffs of the Saba River still sees few visitors, and a few details below catch people out.
7 things people often miss
- Rajapala is not Blahmantung. Pujungan has three waterfalls: Blahmantung, known since the 1980s, Dedari, and Rajapala, the newest to be developed. A map pin labelled "Pujungan Waterfall" usually points to Blahmantung, which we cover in our Blahmantung Waterfall article.
- Sources disagree on the height. detikBali (2022) puts the total at about 70 metres: roughly 30 m for the lower tier and 40 m for the upper one. Bali Post (2026) says about 60 m. Either way, the two tiers are clearly separate.
- There are 121 steps to the upper tier. They have handrails, but the climb is hard on knees. Not a good fit for older travellers, toddlers who need carrying, or wheelchair users.
- Parking is about 500 m before the fall. From Jalan Tri Kahyangan (towards Pura Siwa and Pura Malen) a cement road about 5 m wide runs roughly 1 km to the car park. You walk the rest.
- The upper tier is a ritual site. Rajapala was developed for spiritual tourism: melukat (purification) and meditation. If locals are praying, wait, do not photograph them up close, and dress modestly.
- Facilities are minimal. detikBali only recorded a small warung at the car park. Bring drinking water and small cash.
- Rain makes the steps slippery. Go in the morning on a dry day. Bali Post reports visitors almost daily, around 50 people on a good-weather day, so tour groups are rare.
Tickets, hours and route
- Ticket: Rp15,000 domestic, Rp25,000 foreign (Bali Post, January 2026). In 2022 it was a Rp5,000 donation, so older blog prices are out of date.
- Hours: no official hours have been published for Rajapala itself. The Pujungan waterfall area was listed as open 08:00-18:00 (detikBali, 2023). Arrive before 16:00 so you can climb up and back before dark.
- Distance: Pujungan is about 68 km from Denpasar, roughly 2 hours by road via the Denpasar-Seririt route. From the village centre to the fall is about 10 minutes.

If you want to spend a night in Tabanan before heading north, an AccessiaPass hotel voucher can keep the room cost down.
One more stop in the same district: Vihara Dharma Giri, with its 15-metre reclining Buddha, sits on the way back through Pupuan.
